Mount Carmel Crochet Lace
The basic skills of French, Belgian and Italian needlelace were brought to Ireland during the 18th Century by the landed gentry returning from continental education and/or travels, and by Religious Nuns coming to Ireland from continental convents.
During the 19th Century, a very unique style began to emerge which is still recognised and referred to across the world as “Irish Crochet” or “Irish Crochet Lace.”
